About

Growing up in the countryside of North Carolina, Austin was raised listening to her
father play his piano compositions. As a young girl, she would sing along with her
father’s jazz-inspired playing, and quickly, her self-taught vocals gained attention from
family, friends and anyone who heard her.
As Austin began singing more, she was asked to sing at events in her hometown, and was
even invited to perform at a Disney cruise ship event.

At the age of sixteen, Austin decided she would choose an instrument to accompany her
voice, and as she had never received proper musical training, she hoped to gain more
knowledge in the language of music with lessons. When it came to choosing her
instrument, Austin wanted something different: an instrument to set her apart from other
singer/songwriters. She discovered through advertising that a harp teacher was available
not far from her home, and after her first harp lesson, her choice had been made.

Fast-forward three years later, Austin made the decision to pursue music as a lifestyle and
career. She auditioned for Berklee College of Music at age nineteen, performing John
Legend’s Ordinary People with harp and vocals, and was accepted on scholarship.
Since entering Berklee, Austin has worked hard in her academic classes to create a strong
foundation of musical understanding, and now, in her fifth semester at Berklee as
a CWP major, she is beginning to collaborate with others, as well as perform her own
original music, which is inspired by jazz, soul, pop and R&B
