Goals and interests
- Career goal
I plan to pursue a career that combines animal science, environmental research, and agricultural education. Beginning with hands-on experience in veterinary medicine and agriscience research, my goal is to earn a degree in agricultural education with a minor in animal science and continue conducting applied research focused on animal welfare and sustainable resource management. Long term, I intend to work as an agricultural educator or researcher, bridging the gap between scientific research and everyday agricultural practices by teaching producers and students how to apply data-driven, ethical, and environmentally responsible management strategies.
- Graduate school interests
My graduate school interests are focused on expanding my research on cattle stress and its impacts on animal welfare, health, and productivity. I am particularly interested in pursuing advanced study in animal science with an emphasis on stress physiology, behavior, and management systems in beef cattle. Through graduate research, I hope to investigate how environmental factors, handling practices, housing conditions, and management decisions influence physiological stress responses and long-term well-being in cattle. Building on my current research experience, I want to use data-driven methods to identify practical strategies that reduce stress, improve welfare, and support sustainable production. Ultimately, my goal in graduate school is to conduct applied research that can be directly translated to producers and educators, helping bridge the gap between scientific findings and real-world cattle management practices.
- Outside the classroom
My hobbies reflect both my academic interests and my commitment to an active, balanced lifestyle. I enjoy working on independent research projects, especially those related to agriculture, animal science, and environmental sustainability, because they allow me to explore real-world problems and apply science in meaningful ways. Outside of research, I stay physically active through cross country, track, and CrossFit, which have strengthened my discipline, endurance, and mental resilience. I also enjoy spending time outdoors, where my appreciation for agriculture, animals, and natural systems continues to grow and fuels my motivation to pursue a career rooted in science, stewardship, and hands-on learning.
Experience
-
Will Rogers Animal Hospital Intern
I work at a veterinary clinic as a head evening kennel technician and veterinary technician intern, where I assist with daily animal care, clinical procedures, and facility management. My responsibilities include monitoring animal health, safely handling patients, maintaining sanitation and biosecurity standards, assisting with diagnostic tasks, and supporting veterinarians during treatments and minor procedures. This role has strengthened my skills in animal welfare, medical observation, and professional responsibility while reinforcing my career interest in animal science and veterinary-based research.

Volunteering
-
Through FFA, I am actively involved in volunteering that serves both my community and the agricultural industry. I regularly participate in events that support agricultural education, youth development, and community outreach, including assisting with livestock activities, educational demonstrations, and service projects that promote animal welfare and environmental stewardship. These experiences allow me to apply my leadership and technical skills while giving back to the agricultural community that has shaped my interests. Volunteering through FFA has strengthened my sense of responsibility, teamwork, and service, while reinforcing my commitment to using agriculture and science to make a positive, lasting impact.
