About

My name is BreeAna Barrera and I am currently studying Biology at Northwest Vista College. Once I finish earning my associates degree here, I will be transferring to Galveston A&M to get my PhD in Marine Biology. Marine Biology is something I have been extremely passionate about since I was very young. I grew up in Orange County, California, and I visited the beaches often, leading it to be my favorite place during my childhood. When my family and I moved to Texas, I immediately saw the difference in the quality of not only the oceans, but the marine life as well.
I believe it is crucial for people to have an understanding of how significant our oceans are, not only for the lives that rely on the ocean for their home, but for us as well. As a Marine Biologist, I will not only be able to be a part of helping a major, important part of our world, but also teach other people why it is necessary to preserve our oceans and the lives that depend on it. There are a growing amount of women becoming involved in the Science fields, and my goal is to become a part of that, and with all I learn and do inspire other women to want to do the same.
