About
I began to develop a love for liberal arts while in middle school. My cliché childhood aspirations of becoming an astronaut or a musician began to dwindle away as I began to take interest in science fiction novels. The books that I chose to read influenced my manner of thinking. I began to ask myself “why?” to a million different plots ranging from the subjects of science, math, and technology. While in high school, I found satisfaction in my chemistry class and my computer class. I decided to explore those two subjects by participating in science camps dealing with chemistry and computer science where I performed experiments and wrote computer programs. I chose the former as my major because I asked myself, “What is a computer without the chemical makeup of its components?” Since then, I have participated in two science programs, excluding the computer science ones, which allowed me to improve my research assistant abilities. Those programs were called High Ability and Rising Sophomore Academy both of which were held at my current university (Grambling State University.) During High Ability, I was able to synthesize ferrofluid using ferrous sulfate, ferric chloride, glass wool, ammonia, oleic acid, and kerosene, and during Rising Sophomore Academy I was able to Synthesize CdS quantum dots from Cd(〖NO〗_3 )2 and 〖Na〗_2S nanoparticles. I have also had the opportunity to work in the Research and Development department of the pharmaceutical company Eli Lilly. During my internship there, I was able to produce nanostructured silica from a renewable source for green pharmaceutical processing.
I am a huge fan of science fiction video games. More specifically, I am a huge fan of the Mass Effect video game franchise. In the world of Mass Effect, there is a type of gel called medi-gel. Its uses ranges from being an anesthetic to a clotting agent. Therefore, I am very much interested in Dr. Boyes’ Biodegradable Nanofiber Scaffolds for Bone Tissue Engineering and Dr. Neeves’ Biopolymers and Blood Clot Mechanics research projects. My opinion as to what innovation is defined as, is the imitation of fiction. Innovation is bringing a ludicrous idea into actuality. It is the summation of creativity and execution.

Goals and interests
- Career goal
I plan to further my education to the farthest of my abilities. I know that I want to acquire a doctorate degree. I know that my troubles will lie in trying to find a job after I acquire my doctorate that pays well, allows me to conduct research on a subject of my choosing, and inserts me in a position to work with a diverse group of my peers without having to withhold certain information. I am aware that it is difficult to find a position that meet those standards in the science community.
- Graduate school interests
My ambitions lie in the pursuit of a Ph. D. in the field of chemistry or a closely related field. I am unquestionably certain that I will be attending graduate school after I complete my undergraduate studies. After the acquisition of my Ph. D., I plan devoting my career to research, either in industry or at a university.
- Outside the classroom
In my free time, I enjoy disassembling and reassembling electronic.
