About

I am Brianna Harrell, and I am a Biological Sciences major with a concentration inPre-Nursing at Mississippi State University. While in high school, my family experienced a tragedy with my grandfather. He was diagnosed with cancer in January and died in February. Because of this experience, I developed passion for taking care of those who were sick, since I had done so with my grandfather. I am not sure exactly where this passion will lead me. I do plan to receive my Arts and Sciences degree at Mississippi State University. After this, I plan to continue graduate school and become a nurse or physician's assistant. I have even thought about the possibility of taking care of cancer patients who are children in a place such as St. Jude's Research Hospital. Wherever God leads me, I know it will deal with helping those who are sick and hurting. That is my heart.

Goals and interests

Career goal

As I stated earlier, I plan to go to graduate school to earn my degree in nursing or physician's assistant. My heart is to help cancer patients, and somehow I am drawn to children. St. Jude's Research Hospital is very near and dear to my heart. My mother had a childhood friend who died there from a rare form of cancer. I have seen how nurses and doctor's can have such a huge impact on a child's life and even their families' lives as they go through this horrific situation. I believe I have been called to do this and that this would be a ministry such as when a missionary goes overseas.

Graduate school interests

I know there are many things I could do just by graduating with a Biological Science degree; however, I would like to apply to a graduate program to help me reach my job goals. I am not sure which path I will take as of now, but I know I will either go to nursing school or apply to graduate school to be a physician's assistant.

Outside the classroom

I am a very well-rounded person that has hobbies of many kinds. One of my hobbies is hanging out with my dog, Abby. My grandmother gave her as a gift for Christmas. She is a mixed breed between a schnauzer and something else, but that doesn't matter. She was rescued from a kill shelter and has a gentle spirit. Another one of my hobbies is singing. I was a member of the youth praise band at my home church in Tupelo. We often got to sing in church. I also enjoy singing with my mom. In high school, I was a member of a singing and dancing team called Synergy Singing is a way for me to express myself and my feelings. My favorite type of music to perform is contemporary christian.
