About
Growing up as a young boy with an aunt that was diagnose as special needs, I have always had a soft heart for special needs children. Some many times, I didn’t understand why I, as a child, did not fear her as other children did. I look at pictures where I lay beside her as an infant with a smile on my face and not a tear of fear in my eyes. Pictures of me kissing her cheeks when she could not kiss me back, but in my heart, I knew she was covering my face with kisses. How I was so protective of her, telling her sitter to go and watch my aunt, not me. As I grew up, I begin to realize the answer to my questions was because I, Carl Jordan II, was born with a gift to understand, love and not fear the special needs. I never look at them as special needs. I look at them as individuals that need a little more attention than I did. At that time, I knew I was born to be a special needs teacher.
In five years, I see myself standing in a class room teaching special needs children. I also hope to make those that are not special needs to understand that special needs doesn’t mean they’re a monster, but a special person with a little more needs than the average person. This is why I am working so hard to achieve my degree to get to my teaching career. Because I am so passionate about the love of special needs children, for me not to accomplish earning my degree would be a loss and disappointment to the special needs community, my aunt and myself. My aunt, Tracy Jordan is my alternative plan to stay on track. Every day that she continues to wake up because of the love and care she has received gives me more and more motivation. A person that the doctors said would not live pass 2 years of age, is now 48 years of age. What after motivation do I need?
In ten years, it is my hope to not only be teaching but coaching special needs and normal children in the world of sports. If my aunt can survive for 48 years from the love of my family, there’s no storm, obstacle or person can stop what GOD has set for me.
