About

I am pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Creative Practice at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, an interdisciplinary program that allows me to explore creativity across art, entrepreneurship, and community engagement. I am also a professional chef by passion and practice, and cooking has long been my primary creative medium. While I am continually developing my culinary skills, returning to school was driven by a desire to deepen the artistic, conceptual, and social dimensions of my work. I view food as an expressive art form—through plating, flavor composition, storytelling, and cultural connection—and I am interested in how creative practice can expand the impact of culinary work beyond the kitchen. My academic focus centers on creative problem-solving, arts advocacy, and community-based impact, using creativity as a tool for connection and transformation.

Goals and interests

Career goal

I am pursuing a creative career path that blends culinary arts with broader creative practice. While cooking remains central to my work, I am also interested in roles that extend beyond the kitchen, including creative leadership, arts advocacy, and interdisciplinary problem-solving. My goal is to build a career that allows creativity—whether through food, art, or community engagement—to serve as a catalyst for connection and change.

Graduate school interests

I am interested in the possibility of graduate study, but I am still learning about graduate-level education and how it may align with my long-term creative and professional goals.

Outside the classroom

Creative arts (drawing, painting, writing, and experimenting with mixed media), building LEGO structures, cooking and recipe development, music and learning new instruments (guitar), reading, and community-centered time with friends and family. I also enjoy watching sports, particularly football and basketball, and spending time with my dog.

Experience

  • Executive chef

Extensive culinary experience across healthcare, private dining, and in-home culinary services. I have served as an Executive Chef in assisted living and memory care facilities, preparing meals for elderly and vulnerable populations with a strong emphasis on nutrition, dignity, and advocacy. My work also includes private and in-home dining for individual clients, providing customized meal preparation, live dinners, and personalized culinary services. I am a self-taught chef whose foundation is rooted in home cooking and mentorship from experienced culinary professionals, with a versatile background that includes fine dining, healthcare food service, pastry, and a wide range of global cuisines.

Volunteering

  • Ongoing volunteer service providing peer support, mentorship, and public speaking for community-based recovery and support programs. Activities include speaking engagements at sober living residences, one-on-one mentorship for individuals seeking stability and personal growth, and participation in outreach efforts that support individuals and families facing substance use–related challenges. This work is service-based, unpaid, and rooted in lived experience, advocacy, and community care.
