About
My name is Christa Loving, and I’m a nontraditional student with an unconventional path, but every twist in my journey has only strengthened my drive, my empathy, and my vision for the future.
I’m currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a Humanities minor at Wayne State University. After transferring from the Community College of Baltimore County and Tuskegee University, I’ve maintained a GPA above 3.0 while working full-time at Lululemon. Balancing work, school, and community service has taught me resilience, time management, and the power of showing up—even when it’s hard.
My academic interests lie at the intersection of psychology, social justice, and human development. I’ve developed a particular passion for applied behavior analysis (ABA), which has been deeply influenced by my hands-on experience as a Registered Behavior Technician and Personal Support Specialist for individuals with disabilities. Whether I was helping a young adult navigate daily life or supporting children through behavioral therapy, I learned that patience, cultural competency, and kindness are as essential as any textbook.
I’ve also dedicated time to volunteering for organizations like House of Ruth and Meals on Wheels, further fueling my commitment to vulnerable communities. These experiences have shaped my goal of becoming a licensed psychologist who prioritizes trauma-informed care and advocates for marginalized groups—especially BIPOC and neurodivergent individuals.
Scholarship support would allow me to continue working toward this vision while maintaining financial stability. It would help me afford course materials, reduce work hours, and dedicate more time to research, internships, and community engagement. My journey has never been easy, but it’s taught me to turn struggle into strength and service.
I’m ready to not only finish strong, but to lead, uplift, and leave a legacy that speaks to care, equity, and empowerment.
