Christina Chavira

After I graduated high school I did not have a plan for my future. With little guidance to my next chapter in life I took a break from college and decided to work full time. My career grew from all the experiences I had in different customer service settings. The different roles I had in the workforce led me back to further my education. My customer service started in retail, then call centers, and finally in health care. I realized how important it is to provide resources for anyone who may have limited access and became passionate about it. I went back to Oakton Community College full time and received my Associates in Arts. Shortly after I was accepted in to the Social Work Program at Northeastern Illinois University. I plan to go straight to graduate school with hopes that I get accepted to UIC's Master of Social Work program. I hope for a brighter future for Chicago and plan to give back and share all the unique struggles and success in my search to better my own self in society. I also want to strengthen my leadership by empowering those who have limited access that they can be leaders as well.
