Crystal York

Hi my name is Crystal York. My interest in Early Childhood Development started at a young age when I would hang around my grandmother's preschool classes. As I grew , i would start to help her and learn as much as I could. I loved watching how the children grew each year, i also loved seeing their smiling faces as they hugged my grandmother. When I was 15, I was enrolled in a work study program at my high school where I got my first job as a party host at Chuck E Cheeses. The program was to help students understand the employment process. It was there that I glimpse of the happiness my grandmother felt with her students. I loved my first job, i was able to combine my love of working with children and dance and music. It also taught me skills like Customer Service and hands on job training. I worked at Chuck E Cheeses until I graduated high school, where I graduated with a 2.5 GPA. I went on to community college where i studied Early Childhood Development. I graduated with my Certificate and 2 classes left until my Associates Degree. Between graduation and now I have had many rocks and pebbles in the road. I have worked for some preschools and daycare's along the way but nothing that lasted that long. I did meet my husband who is my rock and biggest support. After years of being out of school and the dream of having my own kindergarten classroom, I decided to go back to school online. I enrolled at the University of Phoenix- Online school and just recently passed my first class. I'm on my way to that degree that I no I can achieve, I have a great support system personally and academically and am headed on a great path to my dream.
