About
My name is Dokpe Ogunsanya. I am currently a graduate (doctoral) student at Concordia University, Portland, Oregon. My major is Education with a focus on Transformational Leadership. I earned two masters’ degree in Management and Administrative Sciences (UT Dallas), and Public Administration (Texas State University). I also earned a double major undergraduate degree in Computer Science and Mass Communications from Huston-Tillotson University. The importance of education was deeply ingrained in me by my parents very early in my childhood. I grew up in a developing country where education is highly valued, more so than wealth. My grandmother reminded me constantly that I will live life like a “blind” person with little or no independence if I don’t acquire good education. It is the most powerful and enriching gift I got from my parents. My parents always believed the best inheritance they could leave for their children is raising them with good morals, strong values and the best education they could afford. The society I grew up in also embraced the notion that living in poverty with education commands more respect than living wealthy without education. A doctoral degree will crown my academic efforts. It is the topmost recognition of learning – perhaps the greatest window of opportunity beyond my imagination to impact the world from an intellectual and leadership perspective!

Goals and interests
- Career goal
I would like to lecture, coach, motivate and empower people moving forward. I am particularly interested in the Transformational Leadership program because of my experience and understanding of the impact and importance of leadership roles locally, nationally and on international basis. I want to facilitate high level education and leadership forums. A nation without good education and purposeful leadership is a “powerless” nation. I can make a difference with my intellectual abilities and education enriched by a doctoral program. It indeed takes a village to raise a child and a vital factor in that village is education and great leadership. One of the most profound experience I cherish most in my life is the opportunity to work and serve underprivileged, first generation college bound, at-risk youths. Majority of the students were able to transform to a productive life because of exposure to higher education and “purposeful” leadership!
