About

My name is Dominika Tomczyk and I am currently located in Moscow, Russia.
I am 18 years old, a recent graduate of Trumbull High School of Trumbull, Connecticut, and an active student of the Bolshoi Ballet Academy in Russia.

During the 2015-2016 school year, my senior year at Trumbull High School, I was offered a position as an international trainee at the Bolshoi Ballet Academy in Moscow, Russia. I had gathered enough credits over my four high school years to successfully graduate a semester early and therefore, as a result, in February 2016, I finished high school and traveled to the Bolshoi Ballet Academy to begin my art studies. Resultantly, I chose to defer from Macaulay Honors College at Hunter College in New York for the 2016-2017 school year because of the opportunities I had in pursuing ballet. I will resume those studies in the upcoming academic year, after my graduation from the Bolshoi Ballet Academy in the spring of 2017.

Goals and interests

Career goal

Having overcome ballet induced injuries, I came to the realization that the body is our instrument and we must care for it as one. During the road to many recoveries, I always took precaution and interest in the work of my doctors and physical therapists. I wanted to prevent future injuries and create the most strong and stable foundation for my body. In these years of trial and error, my curiosity for the human body grew. Now, as a coming college student, I hope to to feed this new interest of mine. I aspire to discover the secrets hidden behind our cell walls and in turn, help heal athletes and reveal their greatest potential as a physical therapist or researcher of the human body.

Graduate school interests

Since every field of science is a never ending study, my education will not cease after my Bachelor's degree. I hope to transition from studying Bio-Chemistry to learning the blueprints of physical therapy. I hope that my major in Bio-Chemistry will provide a strong foundation for the future experiments I explore in more specified fields of medicine.

Outside the classroom

Science-
Aside from attending Trumbull High school, I was a student at the Trumbull Agriscience and Biotechnology Center taking daily classes regarding biotechnology, plant science, mechanics, and animal science. Aside from the in-school academics, I am an active member of the FFA, PALS Underclassmen Mentorship Program, and the Trumbull Agriscience and Biotechnology Ambassador. I volunteered to help plan and establish all of the agriscience events promoting FFA and the school. Such annual events include: dog wash, farm fair, Halloween festival, Christmas plant sale, Easter plant sales and more.
At the Agriscience school, the Supervised Agricultural Experience is an opportunity to volunteer and work at a company or organization in order to encourage the exploration of career opportunities. One of my jobs has been at city line florist. Studying and caring for many flower and plant species, creating and selling flower bouquets, and organizing inventory. Another opportunity I had was at Guy’s Eco Garden, a fully organic and naturally grown garden where i pick weeds, plant and tend for fruits vegetables and herbs, gather and sell those crops at farmer markets. I specialized and assisted in crop production, tractor mechanics, cooking and baking as well as wine production from grape vineyards.
