About
I am a first generation college student who is dedicated to being a life long learner. I enjoy being challenged, trying new things, and serving my community. I currently work on a Crisis Mobile Team in Tucson, AZ where I respond, mostly with law enforcement, to assess and recommend action on mental health cases in the community. I am a full-time graduate student at the University of Arizona and a part-time graduate research associate on a $10million dollar project out of the Department of Education. My goals include advocating for individuals with psychiatric disabilities and bridging the gap between policy and the needs of mental illness.

Goals and interests
- Career goal
My intended job path is to be a practicing lawyer in the mental health field. There is a large gap between policy and practice, which undermines the goals of the behavioral health field. Lawyers, politicians, and legislators are logical and practical thinkers, which may hinder progress towards helping the population with psychiatric disorders. Mental illness is usually not practical or logical, which makes it difficult for policy to reflect the needs of this vulnerable population. It is my intended purpose to help bridge the gap between the two fields to provide better understanding to both sides. I feel I can do this best by obtaining a JD after my graduate work is completed in the mental health field. With these two pieces, I intend to practice law and influence policy through education and leadership.
- Graduate school interests
I am interested mainly in the mental health and law fields. I enjoy finding opportunities for leadership and explore chances to challenge myself academically. I am interested in graduate programs that will allow me to reach my goals and that are not rigid in their plans for students. It is my intention to continue to strategically tailor my education to my intended career path.
- Outside the classroom
I have played volleyball since middle school and continue to play on the U of A women's club team. We compete nationally and placed 5th out of 48 teams last year.
