About
After attending a rural highschool I was invited to attend the Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences and the Arts. A prep school for low income students around Arkansas to get more academic opportunities than what could be provided for them where they lived. At this school I was able to get the first year of all the general credits of my major out of the way before attending college. I was also able to receive a small bit of research experience through the schools Capstone program where I conducted research on fluorescein and competed in the West Central Region Science Fair. I am currently attending the Missouri University of Science and Technology under the banner of a chemistry major. Thanks to my credits from ASMSA I am a junior equivalent in my first year and able to take junior level classes such as Organic Chemistry, which I am currently completing my second semester of. However, due to a poor performance on a basic arithmetic and trigonometry skills test, I was not allowed to attend the calculus three class that I would have been able to with my Calculus one and two credits. Due to this, I have taken it upon myself to learn calculus three through the use of a Khan Academy course and a Calculus textbook that I received from ASMSA. Alongside this I have also begun reading through Introduction to Optics by Frank L Pedrotti to pick up where I believe my electrodynamics class at ASMSA left off. I am also reading through Sheldon Axler’s Linear Algebra Done Right to teach myself linear algebra.
