About
I am a biochemistry major and aspiring physician who began my medical journey in Venezuela and rebuilt it from zero after immigrating to the United States. Leaving behind my first year of medical school because of insecurity and lack of resources in my country, I arrived here without speaking English and completed an Intensive English Program before earning a 3.71 GPA in a rigorous Associate in Science program at Elgin Community College, graduating with High Honors and as an Honors Program graduate. Now, as a Certified Nursing Assistant working in a nursing home, I combine scientific curiosity with compassionate, hands‑on care, and I am committed to serving vulnerable communities through medicine.

Goals and interests
- Career goal
Physician. I aspire to become a doctor who provides high‑quality, empathetic care to patients who often feel unseen, especially immigrants, low‑income families, and older adults in long‑term care. My experiences as a CNA, honors student, and former medical student in Venezuela are shaping me into a future physician who understands both the science of disease and the human stories behind every diagnosis.
- Graduate school interests
Medical School. My primary goal is to attend medical school after completing my biochemistry degree so that I can become a physician serving underserved and immigrant communities. Having started medical school in Venezuela and then rebuilding my academic path in the U.S., I am deeply motivated to practice medicine with scientific excellence, cultural humility, and a strong commitment to public health.
- Outside the classroom
Strength training and fitness – I consistently practice weight training, which has taught me discipline, goal‑setting, and the importance of physical and mental health, all of which support my demanding academic and professional journey.

Volunteering
-
COVID‑19 Vaccination Campaigns, Venezuela – Volunteered as part of large‑scale vaccination efforts, preparing patients, assisting with vaccine administration under supervision, educating community members about immunization, and helping maintain orderly, safe clinics during a public health emergency. These experiences showed me the power of preventive care, strengthened my commitment to public health, and confirmed my desire to become a physician who can respond effectively in times of crisis.
