About

My name is Emily Katula. I am currently attending The Ohio State University and am currently doing research with the Department of Evolution and Ecology. I am a microbiology major because I enjoy the idea of researching the chemicals in animals and plants and seeing how they affect the cells in humans.

My hometown is Wauwatosa, Wisconsin. I am the oldest of 4 kids. I have been a cashier at my local grocery store for 2 and a half year. I am a nanny for my neighbors.

Honors and awards

  • National Honor Society

A club at my high school for students maintaining a GPA of 3.5 or above and doing charity work.

  • Trojan Award

An award given out by the staff at my high school to the students with the best behavior and school performance.

Goals and interests

Career goal

My intended career path is a microbiologist. I hope to study something pertaining to cures in human diseases, such as the rapid cell growth of cancer. I believe that there is a cure to everything within nature, possibly in the toxins of ants or the venom in snakes.

Graduate school interests

I hope to get hired by a research company directly after my undergraduate program in this field of study. My goal is to work until I can fully afford graduate school, and then return to graduate school in order to get my doctorate.
