Emma Petryk

My name is Emma Petryk and I am currently a freshman at Ohio University - Athens Campus. Being academically successful is a top priority of mine and I work incredibly hard to achieve success. I graduated from Granville High School with a Cumulative GPA of 3.4, however, I was earning GPA's ranging from 3.65 to 3.9 starting my sophomore year and this trend continued throughout the rest of my high school career.

In high school, I worked in a day care center at a local gym for two years. While working here, I was responsible for taking care of a number of disabled children, including two boys with Autistic Spectrum Disorder and one little girl who had a genetic mutation. These children inspired me to pursue a career in the medical field. I also part took in a school organization that involved mentoring freshman students. I was a mentor for three years and helped guide freshmen during their first year of high school, which included tutoring, assisting, and supporting these students.

I am currently a member in a number of organizations on campus. I will become an active member of my sorority, Chi Omega, this month. I also joined the Pre-Med AMSA group on campus, 4 Paws for Ability and Autism Speaks U. This first semester of college, I was enrolled as a Pre-Nursing student and I earned four A's. I changed my major to Pre-Professional Biology so I can pursue my dream of attending medical school.
