About
I'm currently majoring in Geomatics with an emphasis in geospatial science at the University of Florida. I've had an interest in how humans interact with and modify the Earth's landmass since I saw a documentary of surveyors exploring the Antarctic continent. I

Goals and interests
- Career goal
After I obtain my Bachelor's degree in the spring of 2021, I would like to obtain a post-baccalaureate internship in the field of Photogrammetry, remote sensing, and Geographic information systems. Id like to work in the private sector for a time and obtain my professional surveyor and mapper license. Once I have effectively found my interests which id like to pursue graduate school, I plan to enter a Masters program and potentially a Ph.D. program after that in my chosen field, hopefully pertaining to the Geospatial portion of environmental science.
- Graduate school interests
I'm interested in seeing how tools and methods used in Geospatial science can be used to document and address the effects of climate change in the next 50 years. Many coastlines in Florida specifically are bound to be affected, and using terrestrial scanners to see where certain beaches need to be shored up could be used for coastal zone management purposes.
Another potential route I could see myself pursuing is utilizing the skills I know and will learn in the field of Forestry, particularly with wildfires and using remote sensing tools to predict vulnerable areas and more effectively address them to prevent damage. I still am not entirely sure which of my interests id like to pursue, but something relating to environmental management would be interesting.

As a previous winner of the Florida FFA floriculture competition, I coached students attending Wolf Lake Middle School about various aspects of the floriculture industry. This included pests and diseases afflicting plants, plant identification, creating floral arrangements, and the economics of the Floriculture industry. This team I coached later placed 2nd in the state of Florida.

A multitude of volunteering opportunities were completed during my tenure as an NHS member. This included 6 instances of packing meals to send to food-insecure countries in Africa and central Asia, included volunteering at charity events for cancer research, and creating a community garden. We also were encouraged to tutor underclassmen when we had the opportunities.
