About

I am a dedicated social work professional, advocate, and graduate student committed to improving outcomes for children and families involved in the child welfare system. With over ten years of experience in family services, child advocacy, and community engagement, I have focused my career on empowering vulnerable populations through education, advocacy, and supportive services. I am currently pursuing a Master of Social Work degree at Winthrop University, maintaining a strong academic record while balancing professional and community leadership responsibilities.

As a first-generation college graduate and member of honor societies such as Gamma Beta Phi and Pi Gamma Mu, I have been recognized for academic achievement, leadership, and commitment to service. These distinctions demonstrate my dedication to lifelong learning, scholarly excellence, and the core values of the social work profession: service, social justice, dignity, and integrity. Through my professional work, graduate studies, and nonprofit leadership, I strive to create meaningful and lasting change for individuals, families, and communities.

Goals and interests

Career goal

My intended career path is to become a licensed clinical social worker and a leader in the child welfare and family services field. I am currently pursuing a Master of Social Work degree at Winthrop University to deepen my knowledge, clinical skills, and leadership abilities in order to more effectively serve children, families, and communities experiencing adversity.

My professional goal is to continue working with vulnerable populations, particularly families involved in the child welfare system, by providing therapeutic services, advocacy, and support that promote family preservation, reunification, and long-term stability. I am particularly committed to assisting parents as they navigate complex systems, overcome barriers, and acquire the skills and resources required to establish safe and nurturing environments for their children.

In addition to direct practice, I aim to hold leadership positions that influence policy, program development, and service delivery. Through my nonprofit organization, Parental Pathways to Reunification, I intend to expand access to education, mentorship, and advocacy services for families throughout South Carolina and beyond. My long-term vision is to develop programs that strengthen families, minimize unnecessary family separation, and improve outcomes for both children and caregivers.

Ultimately, my career path integrates clinical social work, leadership, advocacy, and community impact. I am dedicated to leveraging my education, professional experience, and commitment to service to effect meaningful change and contribute to the development of stronger families and healthier communities.

Graduate school interests

My graduate school interests center on advanced social work practice, child welfare, family preservation and reunification, trauma-informed care, and social justice advocacy. I am especially committed to developing and evaluating programs that strengthen families, improve outcomes for children in the child welfare system, and address systemic barriers impacting underserved communities. After completing my Master of Social Work degree, I intend to pursue a Doctor of Social Work (DSW) to further advance my leadership, clinical expertise, research capabilities, and policy advocacy. Ultimately, my goal is to contribute to the profession through leadership, education, program development, and community-based initiatives that empower families and foster enduring social change.
