About
My name is Erika Thompson and I am currently a senior at the University of West Florida. I am completing my bachelors internship this summer and will be moving on to graduate school in August of this year. I graduated magna cum laude when receiving my associates degree and every semester at the University of West Florida I was on the dean's list with a 4.0 GPA. I am majoring in social work because it is something that I am extremely passionate about. I want to help people through, possibly, one of the most difficult times in their life and help them to become the best version of themselves.

- Outside the classroom
I really enjoy reading. Reading has been something I have enjoyed since I was a child. It is something that my mom has always enjoyed, so I grew up around reading as a hobby. I also enjoying playing golf, hiking, and traveling.

Periodically, over the past few years, I have volunteered at PAWS dog shelter. If I have any extra free time I will call and ask if there are any spots open in the next day or two for volunteering. When I volunteer at PAWS, my duties consisted of walking the dogs, cleaning out their kennels, and showing the dogs to potential adopters.

I volunteered at habitat for humanity house building construction sites. I didn't have any construction experience. However, habitat for humanity taught me the skills needed in helping to build the house. I helped with putting in carpet and hardwood flooring, painting walls, and picking out finishing touches. This was a very eye opening experience.
