About
I am a Ph.D. candidate in Pharmaceutical Sciences at North Dakota State University (NDSU). It has been four years since I moved to Fargo to a pursue a graduate degree. Prior to that, I received my Doctor of Pharmacy from Shaheed Beheshti University, Iran and practiced pharmacy for two years. My interest in research and teaching led me to come to the United States and pursue a Ph.D. degree. Currently, I am studying the underlying mechanisms for weight loss after gastric bypass surgery. Particularly, I am looking into how the gut bacteria contribute to the development of obesity and how these bacteria may be responsible for weight regain after gastric bypass surgery.
My enrollment at NDSU was not only a great opportunity for me to get involved in a fascinating research but also it has provided a platform for professional development. I joined different organizations and programs, such as Phi Kappa Phi, American Association Pharmaceutical Sciences, and Master of Success. I took part in various volunteering and fundraising events and advanced my leadership skills.

At this competition, we were supposed to describe our dissertation in three minutes for lay audience.
