About

Franklin J. Caraballo is currently pursuing his Master’s degree in Transportation Engineering and Urban Planning at the University of Connecticut (UConn). He received his BS in Civil Engineering from the University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez (UPRM).
As a part of an undergraduate research at UPRM with the Student Chapter of the Institute of Transportation Engineers, of which he was the vice-president, Franklin had the opportunity of presenting the project in the USGBC’s Green Advocacy Day at the Puerto Rican Capitol.
Early this year Franklin was selected to participate on the Engineers As Global Leaders for Energy Sustainability (EAGLES) program of the University of Connecticut. EAGLES is a Master’s Dual Degree Program that will allow him to complete another Master’s Degree at the Technical University of Madrid, Spain, and then conduct research at the Polytechnic University of Milan, Italy.
As part of EAGLES, he will be pursuing a Master of Science in Project Planning in Rural Developments and Sustainable Management at the Technical University of Madrid, in which he will explore and investigate about trending, cost effective and energy sustainable methods for project planning in rural areas. He will then go to the Polytechnic University of Milan to conduct research related to energy sustainability and project management. He is currently working as a Safety Technologies Intern at the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) Headquarters Offices at Washington D.C. His major interests include but are not limited to urban planning, sustainable transportation systems and livable cities.
