About

I am a Provost Fellow and PhD candidate in English at the University of Southern California. My dissertation research focuses on the unprecedented experiences, anxieties, and possibilities initiated by the first fossil fuel utility—gaslight—as treated in literature and culture. Notably, I show how the concept of psychosocial gaslighting emerged from inequities and power produced by the literal gas network. I teach undergraduate writing courses on technology and social change.

Graduate school interests

I love the balance of teaching, learning, and writing that graduate school offers. What could be better than spending my days on a college campus surrounded by peers, faculty, and students who challenge and inspire me? I especially enjoy interdisciplinary academic engagement and collaboration. My work involves diverse forms of media, as well as problems related to energy and climate change, interests that bring me in contact with members of various USC departments, not to mention students and faculty at UCLA and the broader SoCal region.

Outside the classroom

Hiking, yoga, road trips, exploring cities on foot, live music, trying new food, spending time with my dog Ella
