About

My life has been a relentless pendulum of lackluster decisions, until the epiphany came that I should pursue return to correct a self-wrong that I did to myself many years ago. I discovered an opportunity to revisit a lifelong dream of attaining an undergraduate degree and then following up with a graduate degree. I have not found life as being kindest, nor has it dealt me with the best hand. I realize that Computer Information Systems is the wave of the future and I would like to be able to have a input in something meaningful and successful.
Retracing my path to success and beginning this long awaited move to finally achieve the academic success that I so desperately deserve, started with the choice of making DeVry University the vessel that set me assail on this “late in life” journey. I have chosen to do this by embracing everything that scholarship stands for. Scholarship and service are two tenants that I have lived by for as long and as far back as I can remember. I should have achieved my educational goals by now, and should have been more efficacious to society, however, since "life" and all here indiscretions have come into play, it has been long and never ending battle to make ends meet. I think that had I not made the decision to return for my degree, I would have continued this tumultuous and unfulfilling path to nowhere.
Twenty-six years since this ambitious Virgin Islander left for Vanderbilt University amidst a cloud of uncertainty, with dreams and high-hopes envisioned for his self, little did I know that life would have turned out the way it has for me. Three years ago, the epiphany all but knocked me off my feet, and I knew then that there is so much more that I could accomplish personally and I needed to weigh the “opportunity costs.” It is a matter of Economics, now and the delayed outcome that I now seek cannot be pushed aside any longer. Either, I will become successful by attaining a degree in something that I love or I will remain mediocre. It is only going to happen through my perseverance, dedication and due diligence. As a senior at DeVry University-Arlington Virginia Campus, I am almost at the brink of achieving my lifelong dream. Everything good that resulted from my academic experiences, now and 24years ago, have been well worth it.
I think that I deserve the chance to make a difference using my talents and expertise as a Web Application Developer and Designer. I feel that I exemplify the Core Values that show my “Pursuit of Excellence”, “Embrace of Knowledge and Intellectual Pursuits”, “Search for Growth” and “Pursuit of Family” because, although I am not a youngster any longer, I still strive to achieve excellence in everything I put name too. I challenge myself, even as an adult amongst the younger generation that look for achievements in this ever changing world we live in.

I have been on a fast track program since my enrollment March 2013 at DeVry University, taking a blended curriculum both at the Arlington, VA campus and online. I have been pursuing a degree in Computer Information Systems with a concentration in Web Development. I plan on taking my degree and finding a way to express my inner style. I am currently a Senior and this is my Fall session at DeVry. I have been steadfast in maintaining a rigorous schedule, both with work and taking majority of my courses online, even though, currently, I am a registered campus student. My classes have spanned over 8 week sessions and have been simultaneously taking since starting at DeVry in 2013. I have made the Dean’s List 2015 and have been inducted in the HonorSociety.org in 2016. I am involved in a few professional organizations, related to my hospitality background and other organizations that I address my passion for health issues, such as Alzheimer’s, the disease that took my mother from me. I would like to use my success to help inform others about this disease in the end.
