About

I am currently a junior in the nursing program at The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton, Texas. I am studying to be a Registered Nurse and have the dream of working in the field of Oncology or Pediatrics upon graduation. I grew up in the once small town of Murphy, Texas where my mother and father raised me to be hard working and responsible. My father started a fireworks business in 2003 and it is blooming into a widely known company in North Texas. He has taught me to set goals for myself and plan on reaching them with a strategic mindset. Growing up I played softball from the age of seven until my senior year of high school at Plano East Senior High School. This sport led me to see places that I never thought I would and it taught me how to push through troubling circumstances and come out on top even if it doesn't mean physically winning. I decided not to pursue playing softball in college so that I could focus all of my time and energy on my studies to pursue nursing as my future career. At that point my mindset of working hard on the field shifted to in the classroom. I decided to attend UMHB because of their accredited and widely known nursing program. Throughout my two years in college and one semester in the nursing program I have learned how to develop my studying routines, maintain a job as a TA in Anatomy and Physiology II, and nurture relationships outside of the classroom all while maintaining a high GPA. Since becoming a student at The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor I have been a part of many organizations including Hospital Ministry with the Baptist Student Ministry, Gamma Beta Phi, Nursing Student Association, and the Miss Mary Hardin-Baylor pageant. I have volunteered with various organizations locally including the local hospital in the Oncology Treatment Center which gave me the desire to potentially pursue working in this field after graduation. My experiences thus far have only sparked the flame as to where I want to be in my college career and through graduation. I hope to treat others well along the way and never lose sight of the bigger picture which is not about myself, but the people around me.
