About

I am an international student from Germany, studying Fashion Merchandising and Management in New York City. Previously, I learned the craft of tailoring in a German clothing company, Gerry Weber International AG, while studying theoretical aspects of tailoring, as well as basic pattern skills in a so called "tailor school".
After winning the award of "Germany's Best Tailor 2015", I was offered a scholarship, which allowed me to visit one of Germany's most respected pattern making schools, Mueller und Sohn, to expand my pattern making skills.
For the past years I have worked with various designers and tailors in order to learn from their experiences and to improve my knowledge of the fashion industry. Based on my work experience, I decided to study the business side of fashion in order to combine it with my practical skills and passion,

Goals and interests

Career goal

Tailoring and pattern making is my true passion, which is why I decided to make it to my profession. For my future path, however, I know that tailoring alone won't fulfill me. Thus, I am currently working towards building up my own label. I intend to work as the creative director, as well as the CEO of my own business.

Graduate school interests

Since I am currently enrolled in a business major, I would be interested in majoring in a design field at one point. Textile design has always interested me in this regard.

Outside the classroom

Besides sewing and pattern making I enjoy drawing and sketching in my (rare) free time. In addition, I am a huge supporter of working out and doing sports as stress treatment. Thus, I like to run, go to the gym and do yoga. Occasionally, I get my friends to play basketball with me. Back in Germany I used to play tennis, do western riding and vaulting (acrobatics on horses).
