About

Hi, my name is Janine! I am a self driven, hard working, senior at Timpview High School, aspiring to study Music Therapy at Utah State University. Some of my favorite things include playing piano, food, painting, playing volleyball, being with my family, and being outdoors. I have a bright and optimistic outlook, and approach challenges with determination, and have strong work ethic. I am a member of the Timpview High School Varsity Volleyball Team and I have excelled on and off the court. My leadership, teamwork and positive energy has contributed to the teams success. Beyond athletics, I shine in music and art. With my creative abilities I make various creations such as music, paintings, and food. I hope to use my love for creating music to help others as I become a music therapist.

  • Encore Music Organization Keyboard Competition 1st Place

I played 2 piano pieces for a judge, then was selected for the finals. Then, I played the same pieces in a recital and won 1st place in my division.

Goals and interests

Career goal

For the past two years, I have been tirelessly working on getting into college to be a performance major for piano but few months ago I had an epiphany that performing is not why I play the piano. I play the piano because of the feeling it creates in me, as well as others. I heard about the music therapy, and something inside of me clicked. I knew this was the right thing to do. By pursuing a music therapy career, I can combine my drive to create and use my love of learning to create positive changes in other people's lives.

Graduate school interests

Unsure right now.

Outside the classroom

Some of my favorite hobbies include: playing piano, baking/cooking, painting, hiking, playing volleyball, crossfit, and being with my family.
