Goals and interests

Career goal

My intended job path is to become a high school Family and Consumer Sciences teacher. The areas I wish to concentrate on are Food Selection and Preparation, Child Development, and Adult Living classes. My goal is to instill life lessons into my students so that when they become active members of society that can contribute in a positive way. I am passionate about the benefits of an education but I also believe that having skills that impact day to day life is also crucial to a well-developed individual.

Graduate school interests

I am very interested in applying for Graduate School. After I establish a foundation as a high school teacher I could see myself working towards a PhD in FCS and working at a University in the future.

Outside the classroom

I have many hobbies and interests. In High School I was a dual-sport athlete, participating in both Volleyball and Track and Field. I am currently a Thrower in the Eastern Illinois Univeristy Track and Field Team. I have always had an aptitude for all athletics and that had inspired me to be a coach as well as a teacher after I graduate college. I also have a passion for cooking. I have been experimenting in the kitchen for over ten years. I want to show high school kids that creativity can be expressed in many different ways, and I believe that creating something from scratch is one outlet everyone should have a basic knowledge of.
