About

I am a graduate student pursuing a MS in International Transportation Management with a deck license at the State University of New York (SUNY) Maritime. After my undergraduate studies I worked for five years as a merchant mariner on several ships and I decided to work and gain experience.

I began working on a cruise ship, Pride of America, for a year as a guest service associate. During my time on the cruise ship, I was intrigued of the lifestyle at sea. I decided to transition to the Seafarers International Union (SIU) program, which gave me a chance to do hands on work. This opportunity allowed me to have the experience as an unlicensed deck crew member on various ships. I have been involved with cargo operations, deck maintenance, mooring lines, and navigation. In addition, to these experiences I have gain knowledge of good seamanship skills.
