About
I began my professional career following my graduation from Northwestern University in Chicago, IL with a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree. The excitement of utilizing my knowledge to improve the health and functional status of patients was powerful, and I began working in the healthcare industry as a Staff Physical Therapist. The opportunity was rewarding, but I quickly realized I had goals beyond the clinical role. I moved into a Director position and began managing my first clinic. This first administrative role confirmed my passion for following the management route, and after numerous promotions and new opportunities, I currently am the Director for a region of outpatient physical therapy clinics in Northern Illinois.

Goals and interests
- Career goal
Without any formal background in management or leadership, I was forced to quickly establish goals not only for the performance of my clinic and professional growth of my employees, but also recognize my shortcomings as a manager. Initially, the learning curve was steep, and I felt overwhelmed with the responsibility of setting and managing a budget, hitting targets, establishing referral relationships, and facilitating the clinical and professional growth of my team. I had amazing support from my supervisor and other mentors which provided me the knowledge and confidence to be successful at this level. As I became more proficient as a manager and leader, I realized that running and growing a successful practice allowed myself and my team to treat and improve the lives of more and more individuals. I have immense pride in managing successful, ethical clinics with top-quality care, and the gratification I have found developing clinicians and future leaders for the industry has been an unexpected dividend.
My experience has also required me to reflect on my overall career goals and analyze the necessary steps to achieve these goals. I realize my experience as a manager has been narrowly focused thus far, as my professional roles have focused primarily on the internal management of the business. Health care is an incredibly dynamic industry, and my current management skills and knowledge are not sufficient to help me achieve my career goal of management at an executive level. As much as I have learned from my mentors and supervisors, all of who hold degrees in healthcare, I do not have a foundational knowledge of the different aspects of business and management that is critical to make decisions that drive the economic success of an entire organization.
I look forward to the opportunity to participate in the Master of Business Administration program to develop the foundational knowledge of business and management and obtain the global perspective of an industry. I anticipate furthering my passion to hold a higher influence management position in a successful organization. I demonstrate the characteristics of a strong candidate for the MBA program based on my career and leadership experiences as well as my strong academic background. I expect to utilize the knowledge obtained from this program to expand my reach and provide an invaluable product such as improving the quality of life of countless individuals through exceptional healthcare.
