I am currently earning my Ph.D. at Georgia Regents University. My present research is discovering how a high fat diet and diabetes effects the cerebrovasculature alone and following ischemic stroke injury. Subsequently I will begin to study gender differences in the neovascularization which occurs post-stroke in diabetic and non-diabetic animals. Hopefully with this data we as a scientific community can begin to elucidate mechanisms on why diabetes impairs neovascularization post-stroke leading to more desirable therapeutic interventions.
