About

I am a senior Biochemistry major at Rowan University. Having grown up in the southern part of the garden state, New Jersey, I fell in love with nature and this lead to me choosing my major because of the appreciation of chemistry I gained from my high school chemistry teacher. I believe that every American should have the right to further their education, but as a result of poverty and lack of finances many people from my hometown of Millville, NJ don't have the opportunity I have. Even so, I myself have also run into financial issues especially when my father suffered a stroke last year leaving the load of taking care of a house, as well as my tuition in the hands of myself and my mom. Despite my setbacks I refuse to give up because I promised my dad when I first started school to both finish not only to create a better life for myself and loved ones, but also for those in situations like that of mine. Science is a gift that should be used for the greater good of this world, not for money. With my degree I plan to not only work toward a better planet, but also toward a better future to educate deprived students both in my area and around the nation.

Goals and interests

Career goal

The field in which I'd like to work in because of my passion and interest is molecular biology, specifically biotechnology. Biotechnology can help create better biofuels, as well as create better crops production around the planet and solve the issues of genetically transferred diseases just to name a few things.

Graduate school interests

My interest for grad school is to either earn a masters in biotechnology or a doctorate in Molecular Genetics. I want to work on biofuels and possibly genetic enhancements and transformation within bacterial, plant, and mammalian cells.

Outside the classroom

Honestly I spend all of my free time doing yard work and repairs for the elderly and sick.
When I can I go out and help the youth in my city by talking with them to not only see where their thoughts are, but to inspire them with my stories to show them that there is hope for better even when you feel like you have nothing.
I also read, not novels, but my biochemistry and biology books
