Kaila Hooks

My name is Kaila Hooks and I am a marketing major at Wayne State University. I have spent the past six months interning at Quicken Loans on the Mortgage Operations team. I have been able to learn the fundamentals and production processes in the mortgage business. I gained much of my work experience during my first year in college at New York University. During my time at New York University, I worked as a professional fundraiser and a mentor for CollegeSpring, Inc. As a mentor, I worked with students to prepare them for their SAT test and college application process. I worked with my students two times a week with detailed lesson plans and practice tests. I was also able to develop relationships with my mentees to build their confidence and change their attitudes toward their future. Many of my mentees were from low-income backgrounds and neighborhoods. I realized that I could inspire them and encourage them to create dreams and goals for themselves. As I continue to gain education and experience, I want to gain experience in marketing. While I gain professional experience, I plan to work in my community to inspire young children and create change for the future.
