About
My name is Kaitlynn Smith and against all odds I graduated high school in three years. Mid year my junior year of high school I decided that I was ready for bigger and better things and made the decision to graduate a year early. Graduating a year early meant taking on an extra five classes. I was crazy and asking for an amount of stress no 16 year old should ever wish upon themselves, not to mentioned my parents loathed the idea. I needed the "senior experience" and to go to high school all four years in their eyes.
Starting January of 2015 I took on five extra classes for a grand total of thirteen. Teachers, administrators and even my parents didn't believe I could accomplish such a task, I had no support, administration refused to let me walk with the class of 2015 even if I completed my courses, and my school counselor refused to help me even understand the basics of applying for colleges and scholarships. I was on my own in my grand adventure. With honors classes, extra classes, work, and learning to "adult" all on my own came with an added amount of stress I wasn't ready for. Time management became my biggest concern. When May rolled around I still had one class that needed to be completed in two weeks. I hadn't even started it yet. I was on the edge of quitting, but I'd come to close and knew I'd regret it later. I couldn't let everyone be right. So, I took a week off work and for six to seven hours everyday after school and on the weekends I stared at a computer screen taking test and doing assignments. Then there it was, the black screen with a lock and key that said "This is the final, please go to your instructor to unlock this test". I'd done it. I'd proven everyone wrong. I'm now a college freshman at Garden City Community College. I applied for a Student Media Scholarship that paid books and tuition and got it. Through hard work and dedication I accomplished more than anyone ever thought I could and I'm still going. I'm now the Sales Manager for GC3 Student Media. Using leadership skills and some persuasion I took advertising sales from 1,500 to 10,000 in a matter of months. I earned the media team a trip to LA and myself an extra scholarship. School isn't the only place I've excelled. Outside in the working world I work for a food chain, Papa Murphy's, I started out as a grunt or crew. Over the past few months I've show skills in leadership, maturity and trust that I now watch over the store, handle money, grocery orders and other manager tasks while the owner is out of town handling his other stores.
My name is Kaitlynn Smith and at 17 I have done more with my knowledge of the world and leadership abilities than most people I know. I graduated high school in three years, earned myself a manager spot on the Student Media team, I have three jobs, and manage a pizza place 5 out of 7 days a week.
Finally, I have a dream to graduate from Arkansas University with the knowledge to be a Forensic Anthropologist. I want to travel the world uncovering mysteries that some people only read about. I want to bring closure to families and justice to the world. I want to be called Dr. Smith and have a PhD to proudly hang on my wall.
