About

Veterinary Medicine has been a lifelong passion for me. Being a first year student in Veterinary school is a big step in making that dream a reality, and the journey to this step has changed my focus within the veterinary field. I went from wanting to be mixed practice with small and exotic animals, to zoological animals, to conservation research, to public health and pathology research. My experiences leading me here have been exciting and vast, and explore several facets of the veterinary profession.

Outside of this calling, I have dabbled in foreign language, the arts as a hobby, comparative religion, and althetics.

Goals and interests

Career goal

Currently I intend on going into conservation wildlife medicine and public health as it pertains to infectious and zoonotic diseases following a career in the Army Veterinary Corp. Ideally I would like to travel the world and help put policies into place that both protect the wildlife and the human populations that coexist. Public education about wildlife and what endangers them is an important role in cohabitation between humans and threatening wildlife, be it for livestock or through a bad reputation, and is something I have a particular interest in.

Graduate school interests

Earned my post-bach certificate in Advanced Biomedical Sciences in 2015, leading into completing a M.S. in Physiology at Georgetown University. Following this I am a member of the Class of 2020 of the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine. Here I plan to follow an interest in Zoo and Conservation Medicine and focus on infectious diseases in relation to public health and wildlife.

Outside the classroom

I thoroughly enjoy art. My favorite mediums are pencil sketches and photography with a preference of film over digital. Dance is another thing I enjoy; especially latin dancing. Sports wise I have played several, but find soccer and volleyball to be the best to play.
