Karen Nelson

After completing four years of coursework in 3 years; I graduated from Bennett College cum laude with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Chemistry and started working for Procter & Gamble as a bench Chemist thanks to 1 year of experience as an intern. However, while I enjoyed the intellectual challenge of dealing with complex formulation issues and received multiple promotions, I was missing the stimulation and dynamics of a diverse workforce that existed in other industries. As a result, I went from singularly personifying diversity to pursuing my professional dream of creating & sustaining diverse workforces in marketing, now in human resources -- including starting my own diversity consulting business. Over the course of my career, I have progressed from the corporate setting to outside consulting and back again with NelStar Diversity & Leadership Consulting.
