About

My name is Karlin Hilai. I am an Arabic American student at Wayne State University. My mother suffered a stroke and was left partially paralyzed, when I was 15 years old. This tragic event changed my life dramatically. Growing up was different, and a very molding experience for my siblings and I. Due to my mothers severe medical conditions, my siblings and I made great changes in our lives in order to support and take care of her. My mother, and this event in my life is what drives me to be the best, and greatest I can be. This experience shaped me into becoming a very determined, and dedicated individual. I work great with others and in groups, I am always willing to learn, and school is my main priority. My goal in life is to become a General Surgeon, as well as work in studies in relations to stroke patients, and people with similar conditions. I want to help improve the lives of people, suffering from medical conditions, for example my mother. I am a Phi Theta Kappa honors student, and received a number of awards for my achievements.
