About
I am a graduate of NMHU with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology. I did graduate Cum Laude, I hold a full time job, live by myself and take care of my school work as well. I have been through a lot of personal issue, like open heart surgery, divorce and changing of careers. I have not a traditional student. I did start my higher education at the age of 44, before that I was an iron worker for a steel erection company. My sister encouraged me to start school so that I might have a chance for a different career due to my health. I started with San Juan College in Farmington NM in January of 2010. I achieved many goals and became a peer support worker for the TRIO program there. I was the student key note speaker for our graduating class of 2012. I feel very fortunate that I have been able to change my path in life. I have since decided that I would like to pursue my Master's degree in Sociology, I am hoping to start at NMSU online Sociology degree in August of 2017. I do plan on obtaining my Doctorate degree in the future, however I better focus on one degree at a time. I am looking forward to starting my Master's degree. The reason I am applying for a scholarship is that I am a single individual and I find it hard to make ends meet sometimes, between the cost of living and the cost of my education. I would appreciate the time for you to look over my records to determine if I would be a good candidate for a scholarship. Every little bit would help.
Thanks,
