About
My name is Katie Hutton. I am twenty-one years old and currently in the process of transferring to a four-year university in North Carolina. In high school, I was an active member in my community, a member of National Honor Society and a three-sport varsity athlete. Following graduation, I attended Southern Connecticut State University where I started on the Division II Women's Soccer team and achieved a 4.0 GPA. Following my first semester, however, I was unable to obtain the financial assistance I needed and was forced to transfer out and begin my journey at Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte, North Carolina. There, I was successful in maintaining my 4.0 GPA, was inducted into both Phi Theta Kappa and Mu Alpha Theta, and made President's List each semester. In December 2015, I graduated CPCC with my Associates in Arts degree. Since then, I have been employed by Union County Public Schools in North Carolina as a substitute teacher and The North Carolina High School Athletic Association as a soccer official. Although my collegiate experience has had it's obstacles, I am proud to be where I am today with the accomplishments I have achieved. Now, I am preparing to transfer to a four-year university for the Fall 2016 semester. My options are The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, North Carolina State University, Appalachian State University, and East Carolina University. I am an extremely dedicated and hard worker and regardless of where I end up in the coming months, I am determined to continue to accomplish my goals and earn my Bachelor's degree.

- Career goal

- Graduate school interests
Following graduation and after I receive my Bachelor's degree, I am interested in pursuing my Master's degree in English. Although I have not looked into Grad Schools quite yet, I definitely see continuing my education as an option in my future.
- Outside the classroom
In my spare time I love to read and write. I try to regularly keep a journal of my thoughts and experiences to not only as a writing exercise but simply as a documentation of my life that one day I will be able to look back on. Currently, my favorite author is Bob Woodward. I love reading about history and politics. His books help me understand more about how our government works and I appreciate his ability to write objectively. In addition to reading and writing, I love to exercise and play sports. Soccer being my favorite, I try to play as much as I can in the Charlotte Women's Soccer League and on my own. I am a very active individual and in my free time I am always trying to work to keep my mind and body healthy.
