About
As an enthusiastic and dedicated individual pursuing dual majors in BS Astronomical and Planetary Science and BS Physics with a 4.12 GPA, I am deeply passionate about advancing our understanding of the cosmos. Beyond academics, I thrive on challenges and enjoy solving puzzles, sharpening my mind for both programming and stargazing endeavors. My venture into CCD imaging and astronomy clubs has honed my skills to capture celestial beauty, while my ultimate goal as a citizen scientist is to integrate CCD imaging, stargazing, and programming to locate, track, and model astronomical bodies, contributing to planetary science and space exploration. Moreover, the growth and preservation of humanity and nature are paramount to me, as I strive to leave a positive impact on the world through scientific exploration and environmental conservation, appreciating the interconnectedness of all life and aiming for a sustainable future.

Goals and interests
- Career goal
Kathryn aspires to advance planetary science and geodetics, driving human settlement on other celestial bodies, exploring rocky surfaces for habitability and resources, and promoting environmental conservation on Earth and beyond. She actively pursues opportunities at the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency and seeks internships aligned with her mission.
- Graduate school interests
I am eager to continue my education and further develop my research skills in planetary science and space exploration. While I'm still considering grad school as an option, I have identified potential programs at Chicago University, University of Toronto, Arizona State University, and Washington State University, which align with my interests and goals. As there's always more to learn and grow from, pursuing advanced education would enable me to contribute significantly to the fields I am passionate about.
- Outside the classroom
In my leisure time, I enthusiastically engage in activities that align with my passion for astronomy and physics. I have recently started exploring the fascinating world of programming, teaching myself Python with the aim of eventually creating 3D models of celestial bodies and their motions. While still in the learning process, I envision utilizing these programming skills to complement my CCD imaging endeavors. I have recently acquired proficiency in using a CCD camera, capturing breathtaking images of the Moon, and I am continually honing my skills to capture images of planets, asteroids, and comets. Moreover, I love to challenge my brain with puzzles, as it keeps me sharp and innovative in both my programming and stargazing pursuits. My ultimate goal is to integrate CCD and stargazing capabilities with programming, enabling me to locate, track, and model astronomical bodies—a pursuit that empowers me as a dedicated citizen scientist, contributing to our understanding of the universe.
