About

I have always loved studying, learning, and developing. I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Brigham Young University in 1989, and just a few short years later started on a graduate program in Educational Administration at the University of Nevada Las Vegas. Although I was still very involved in education, I then took a hiatus from formal college-level studies to focus on raising/educating my family of 6 children. Now that they are all grown/educated (including 4 BS degrees, 2 MS degrees, 1 law degree), I turned my attention back to myself and to my love of education, research, and learning, and I am currently pursuing a doctorate degree in Educational Policy and Leadership.

Goals and interests

Career goal

I am working towards a career in state or national education particularly in policy creation.

Graduate school interests

I am studying and researching the intricacies of the operation of rural schools within large urban school districts, including the unique challenges these rural schools face in complying with district policies which may be helpful for urban schools, but do not always best serve the rural schools. This is an unusual situation with which Clark County School District in Nevada (the 5th largest district in the nation) is currently dealing.

Outside the classroom

Running, reading, genealogy, educational research
