About

Greetings to those reading this summary, my name is Kayla Vaughn. After I graduate college, I plan to own an animal business that focuses on different aspects of an animal’s wellbeing whether that may be getting treated medically, physically, or mentally. My secondary plan will be working in the field of animal science doing anything related to animals no matter what it is. I am currently continuing with my second year as one of the captains of the cheer team at the school I attend (Lakewood Highschool) and entering my third year as a part of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority program starting as a Delta Academy now owning the title proudly as a Delta Gem. Within this program I have been getting prepared for the real-world learning more about how to continue carrying myself gracefully as a young black woman and taking in all the new opportunities that have unfolded within being in this wonderful environment. I have done loads of volunteer work, especially regarding it being tied to Delta Sigma Theta which would include cleaning up around the city, breakfast with Santa, helping the children within the community, etc. I have also learned to own being a leader in many ways, which has helped me evolve and become more confident within myself also then being able to share that confidence with the others around me in various ways. I have been taking AP & Honors classes since my freshman year of high school, which has also helped me learn how to attack challenges to the best of my ability no matter how hard things get! I have learned more about myself over my years of schooling and participating in different extracurricular activities/ programs and always approached each lesson with a positive and firm mind, I will take this mindset with me as I approach college but make it 30x stronger so I can not only learn more about myself but learn from my teachers, peers, and etc. as I grow into an even stronger individual. College is one of the most important things to me right now because of how beneficial it is for my bright future, and I am willing to do what I must do to live out my dream, no matter what the circumstances are. I know I can become stronger as I approach college and I will not only make everyone else around me proud and prove to those who doubted it but to prove to my biggest obstacle, myself. I will prove to myself that I can do more than I am dishing out and succeed above average because I know what I am capable of, and right now I’m at 100% moving forward to make it to 120% so I can become a better version of myself who can proudly continue on not only successful but drool those gems and steps to anyone around me so everyone has space and opportunity to do the exact same.
