About

I am a first-generation college student pursuing my bachelor’s degree in computer science, where I currently maintain a 3.9 GPA in a rigorous, STEM-focused program. My journey to higher education has been shaped by significant obstacles, including receiving special education services and experiencing homelessness during my senior year of high school, experiences that have strengthened my resilience, work ethic, and empathy for others. As the only member of my family to attend college, I am committed to creating new opportunities not only for myself, but also as a role model for my family and community.
Alongside my academic achievements, I bring over a decade of experience in technology and customer support, which has helped me develop strong problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills that complement my studies. I am passionate about using technology to create stability, access, and empowerment for others, and I approach every class and professional opportunity as a step toward a meaningful career in the tech industry. My story is one of perseverance, growth, and a deep commitment to excellence, and I am dedicated to continuing to challenge expectations about who belongs in higher education and in computer science.

Goals and interests

Career goal

My intended job path is to build a career in the technology field as a cloud-focused IT professional, leveraging my computer science degree and extensive background in technical support. In the near term, I am working toward roles such as cloud support engineer or systems administrator, where I can apply my problem-solving skills, customer service experience, and knowledge of computer systems to support modern cloud infrastructure. Long term, I aim to grow into more advanced positions in cloud engineering or IT leadership, helping organizations design secure, scalable systems while mentoring others who are starting their own paths in technology.
A core part of my goal is to use my skills to expand access to technology and security for people who may not be able to afford it. Coming from a background where resources were limited, I understand how financial barriers can leave individuals and small organizations vulnerable. In the future, I hope to volunteer, consult, or build initiatives that provide low-cost or pro bono guidance on cybersecurity and digital safety, so that more people can protect their data, privacy, and opportunities—regardless of their income level.
