Keon Artis

Keon Artis is a recent graduate of Winston-Salem State University where he obtained an undergraduate degree in Business Management with a concentration in Human Resources. Mr. Artis has a little over a year of federal experience in human resources, event planning, training and development, knowledge management, and administrative/clerical assistance.

Keon is currently the Resource Management Assistant for the Plant Health Programs (PHP) unit at the United States Department of Agriculture Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (USDA APHIS). In this role, Keon assists with a wide variety of issues concerning the human resource staffing, recruitment, position, billet, and organizational management activities essential to the successful and efficient operation of the PHP Staff.

He began his federal government career as a Thurgood Marshall College Fund Intern at the USDA APHIS where he coordinated and implemented trainings and other professional development opportunities for PHP employees; managed all PHP billets, organizational charts, and exception forms; led, coordinated, and managed the PHP Book Club; and maintained the Knowledge Management/Employee Development and PHP Book Club SharePoint sites. He also served as the Lead Coordinator for the 2016 APHIS Leadership Development Day where over 200 government employees where in attendance.

Prior to joining the United States Department of Agriculture, he worked for various private sector companies in positions such as the B&I Refreshment Services Intern, the Emerging Leader Intern, and Sales Associate providing quality customer service and improving office/business efficiencies through innovation and creativity.

Keon Artis is a U.S. Citizen and registered for the selective service. Mr. Artis is currently a Master Degree candidate at East Carolina University, pursuing his degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Hospitality Management.
