About

I am a graduate student at the University of Houston-Clear Lake (UHCL) enrolled in the School Psychology program. I currently have a BS in Psychology, minor in sociology, and attend a pre-doctoral fellowship in the LoneStar LEND leadership program at UTHealth/McGovern Medical School that serves to advocate for children (and their families) diagnosed with autism or other neurodevelopmental disorders and will graduate from this program in June 2021.
I have also co-founded and served as Vice President of an inclusive organization at the UHCL campus called the Non-traditional Students and Parents Organization and am in the process of developing a textbook donation system for students attending my university that may face financial obstacles (currently on hold due to COVID-19). I volunteered as a research assistant and worked as a TA at my university. I plan to graduate and become a licensed specialist in school psychology (LSSP) in May of 2023.

Goals and interests

Career goal

I hope to be licensed in school psychology (LSSP) and work in a school district by the 2023-2024 school year. I have a special interest in children with autism spectrum disorder and children with other neurodevelopmental disorders, diversity awareness and equity practices for all students, and working with student populations exposed to violence. I have recently been assigned for practicum placement at Santa Fe ISD in Santa Fe, Tx for the 2021-22 school year, and requested this placement because of the unfortunate yet special circumstances surrounding what happened on May 18th, 2018. Many of these students are still experiencing difficulties related to this school shooting that occurred just 3 years ago. I hope to gain experience to better assist student populations that have experienced violence/trauma.

Graduate school interests

I am currently enrolled as a graduate student in school psychology and plan to graduate in May 2023.

Outside the classroom

I like to read, go bowling, and spend time with my 8-year-old son.
