Ashley Knoblock

I am currently a student at the University of Wisconsin-Marathon County in Wausau, Wisconsin. I am studying to become a nurse. I am a compassionate person who has a desire to help others. Growing up in the small town of Mosinee, Wisconsin, I had a small hobby farm that taught me responsibility and how to properly care for different types of animals. I got involved in the Peplin Pioneers 4-H club when I was young and throughout the years I have shown different animals, such as, rabbits, goats, sheep, pigs, and ducks. I have also participated in many community service activities with my 4-H club. Through 4-H I learned team work and leadership skills. A personal experience that I faced reassured the direction I was taking to a career in nursing. After my grandmother underwent open heart surgery, I cared for her by keeping her wounds clean and helping her to shower. I enrolled in a certified nursing assistant course and received my certificate in October 2014. The desire to help both people and animals is a major part of who I am. After high school I chose to attend the University of Wisconsin-Marathon County (UWMC) because it was close to home, so I could be near family and continue taking care of my animals. At UWMC I joined the Health Careers Club, which aims to promote health on campus and participate in community service. After I complete two years at UWMC, I am going to transfer to a four-year college for my bachelors, and possibly my masters degree in nursing. I want to make a positive impact in peoples' lives.
