About

My name is Kristen. I'm originally from Jackson, MO but recently moved to my husband's hometown of Oak Ridge, MO. We were high school sweethearts and got married December 30, 2017. He's currently finishing up his mechanical engineering degree at Missouri S&T in Rolla, MO. I got my Associates in Nursing through Southeast Health College of Nursing and Health Sciences in Cape Girardeau, MO. I was able to work my way up at Southeast Health Hospital, starting as a tray passer in food services to being a Radiation Oncology Nurse at Southeast Health Cancer Center, all within the past 5 years.
I knew I wanted to be a nurse since I was 14 years old and I've always had a servant's heart. Nursing is the best way to serve people, and you're able to make a difference in their lives and their families lives. I'm going back to school to be able to be the most well rounded nurse that I can be, to be able to best take care of my patients.

Goals and interests

Career goal

I want to continue to pursue my nursing career in Oncology. Once I obtain my BSN I'm going to start working towards my Oncology Nursing Certification as well as my chemo certification.

Outside the classroom

When I'm not at work or studying I love to spend my time outside. I love running, gardening, and training horses. In July 2016 I adopted a Wild Mustang through the Bureau of Land Management, and have been training her in my spare time. I also volunteer every week at Mississippi Valley Therapeutic Horsemanship. I've been volunteering at MVTH since I was 15 years old.
