About

I am a Student Registered Nurse Anesthetist at The University of Tennessee- Knoxville looking to apply for the Graduate Student Achiever Scholarship. I previously worked as a nurse in the Adult Medical ICU at Memorial Hermann Hospital (Houston, TX) as a staff nurse from 7/2012-12/2015 and West Houston Medical Center (Houston, TX) on the Telemetry floor as a staff nurse from 06/2011 – 07/2012. I have been involved with volunteer work from 07/2008-12/2015. These activities consisted of Children’s Health Fairs, Missions trips building rehab facilities and school buildings, Habitat for Humanity, and a fundraiser run for an orphanage. During my Bachelors of Science in Nursing at the University of Texas Health Science Center, I was involved with the Honor Society of Nursing, Zeta Pi Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International and on the Dean’s List. While obtaining my Associates of Applied Science- Associates Degree in Nursing, I was a member of National Students Nurses’ Association and Alvin Nursing Student Association. My short-term goals consist of continuing my field of study at the University of Tennessee- Knoxville in the CRNA program. I plan to complete my clinical rotations and hope to discover more advantageous ways to deliver holistic care by initiating current research and literature into practice. I also plan to travel as a Student Registered Nurse Anesthetist to Guatemala in January 2017 for an anesthesia mission’s trip, which will allow me to give back to those in need. I am currently a member of the Tennessee Association of Nurse Anesthetist, American Association of Nurse Anesthetists, Honor Society, and Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau Gamma Chi Chapter. I plan to continue my membership and support for these organizations. My long-term plans are to actively be involved in the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA) and supporting my state organization. Upon acquiring my CRNA certification and drawing from my previous international travels to both Haiti and Mexico in 2010, I am also interested in joining the International Federation of Nurse Anesthetists. I hope to work at a teaching facility to facilitate Student Registered Nurse Anesthetists’ growth in the field of anesthesia. I am excited about my future in Nurse Anesthesia and hope to make a difference in the profession and the lives of patients for which I care.
