Kyla Barnes

I'm Kyla Barnes, currently studying Art at St. Edward's University. I've received awards like the Dean's Achievement Scholarship for my dedication to academics and community involvement.
Outside of classes, I've gained practical experience in campus roles such as Residence Hall Desk Worker and Office Assistant, where I've prioritized student safety and efficient campus services.
My academic focus is on understanding effective communication strategies and their impact. Through my projects, I explore how different writing styles and techniques influence audience engagement and comprehension.
In addition to my academic pursuits, I actively participate in St. Edward's art community. I've contributed to exhibitions like the Rise Up Juried Student Exhibition, where I showcased a drawing of Lotus flowers. This artwork aimed to evoke cultural significance and personal memories through its symbolism.
Beyond art, I've engaged in various local exhibitions such as Annalise Gratovich: Carrying Things From Home and Jessie Burciaga: The Act of Searching Exhibition. These experiences have enriched my understanding of art and strengthened my connections within the artistic community.
Looking forward, I am enthusiastic about leveraging my skills and experiences to contribute meaningfully to art. My goal is to continue exploring and advocating for effective communication through my academic pursuits and community involvement.
