About

Throughout my life, it has been my desire to be of assistance to society. Growing up in a household with parents that abused substances, then being abandoned at the age of 13, I have first-hand experience of how it feels to need help and not receive it. For these reasons, I have chosen the professional field of Social Work. I am a single mother with three children, and one who lives with disabilities. I am currently a Senior at Salisbury University majoring in Social Work and I will graduate with high honors on December 17, 2016. My career goals are to obtain a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, and later to obtain a MSW. It is my desire to work with fragile populations, specifically with the elderly, single mothers, and Veterans. I have instilled in me empathy, and unconditional positive regard for human beings, which is beneficial in the helping field. I have met and overcome many obstacles in life. My friends, family, and colleagues would say that I am resilient, goal oriented, and determined; however, the greatest strength I have is determination. Additionally, as the head-of-household, I have provided an example for my children and I have shown them that anything you want to achieve is possible as long as you believe in yourself, be resilient, and work hard to achieve your goals.

I will apply for Salisbury University's Advance Standing MSW program upon graduation. I will also be open to attending another University; however, I will cross that bridge when it comes.

I love to go fishing because it is very therapeutic and to catch the biggest fish. I also like going to the local race track and traveling to other tracks to watch grudge racing.
